Equalizer is a 2014 American action thriller film directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by Richard Wenk, based on thetelevision series of same name, which starred Edward Woodward.
Plot:McCall is a former black ops commando who has faked his death to live a quiet life in Boston. When he comes out of his self-imposed retirement to rescue a young girl, Teri, he finds himself face to face with ultra-violent Russian gangsters. As he serves vengeance against those who brutalize the helpless, McCall's desire for justice is reawakened. If someone has a problem, the odds are stacked against them, and they have nowhere else to turn, McCall will help. He is The Equalizer.

On June 25, 2014, IMAX Corporation announced that they had made a deal with Sony and it would release the film in its IMAX screen theaters worldwide from September 26.
The film will be released at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival on September 7, 2014.
